One Redboard stopped connecting to any PC in class (others still work fine)

One of my 18 Sparkfun Redboards (Arduino Uno) from the Inventors kit stopped being recognized by any com port on any computer.

Other redboards will be seen with the USB cable and computer I am using. So, it is not the cable or the computer driver.

The green power light on the board is on, but the PC says the device plugged into the USB is not recognized. When I try to download a program from the computer using the IDE it fails to upload. (additionally, no port except com3 shows up - on other redboards I try com8 is active in the IDE too)

It used to work, but maybe the students did something or it died from infant mortality. We have only been using these for a week. Please help.

Was it purchased from us? If so head over to www.sparkfun.com/returns (contact vendor if purchased elsewhere) and we’ll get ya squared away
