I recently bought a bare conductive touch board, and somehow shorted it out with my circuit. I have purchased another one, but want to make sure the circuit is correct before wiring it in - to avoid another short circuit.
I am using the Bare Conductive board to make a copper wire into a proximity sensor - this then triggers an analog 12v led strip to turn on with proximity.
Here is a diagram of my Circuit
- NOT PICTURED : an alligator clip from E11 to a copper wire && the touch board plugged into my Laptop.

Hi susannah, and thanks for your post.
Without knowing what that part on your breadboard is, it is difficult to determine what might be causing your troubles. It could be an error in wiring, but I can’t really say for sure.
What I’d recommend trying is to use something like our MOSFET Power Control Kit since we already know that works correctly in a circuit like this and won’t damage your Bare board.
The photo below shows how you’d connect the two devices.
The MOSFET Power Control Kit is shown unassembled in the picture, but you will need to solder the MOSFET, resistor and screw terminals to the board for it to work.
