Sorry for the cross-post, but it was off-topic in the other thread…
When I try to order my board (after passing DRC, etc), I select “Airmail Letter-post” as the shipping method, but on the last confirmation screen, the shipping method always changes automatically to “Global Express Guaranteed Document Service”. Is this a bug?
Thanks Sparky. Did you find anything? I really want to place my order, but the $50 shipping charge is holding me back
As well, shipping charges seem to be changing on a daily basis (On monday, Global Express Guaranteed Document was $50, today it’s $34). Is this because they haven’t been finalized yet?
i would look into it but nathan has much, much more experience (lol) then me at the system from a config of shop point of view, also i dont have the admin area password.
I’m having trouble with shipping also. It’s the same issue, it doesn’t matter what kind of shipping I select, it shows up as Global Express Guaranteed Document Service. I noticed you’re also in Canada, I wonder if it has something to do with that.

Hmm... Maybe you're right. Though it would suck to have to pay an extra $50 just because I live in Canada...

Same problem for me. I wound up going with FedEx instead.
Lucky. At least you had a choice. With me, it doesn't matter what shipping method I select, on the last screen of ordering, it's been changed to Global Express Document Whatsit.

I'm sure it's just a bug in the system. It's certainly not that expensive to ship things to Canada via regular USPS. And I'd personally go with USPS. I've had a bad experience with UPS's insane 'brokerage' fees crossing the border, and I believe you run into the same issue with FedEX.
Grumble. I have no idea why OSC connection is doing this.
I’ll see if I can dig anything up off the osc forum. The USPS website is totally down for international packages as well (really killing SFE at the moment).
Any progress on this issuse? Do you think we might be able to find a work-around for now? Hardwire shipping to USPS Global Priority or something like that?
I still have the same problem here, it must be something with international orders as it always reverts to Global Express Guaranteed Document Service and I cannot continue the order as I don’t have the funds in my paypal account to cover it
So could you get my order through the system?
Contact me on dakiller -at- post -dot- com if you need to
I’m trying my order again, and quite a lot of the shipping options seem to have disappeared. I live in Canada (which could have something to do with it), and the cheapest option available to me appears to be Global Priority Mail, which is total overkill for me. My board only costs $7.50 (great price!), so I’m not really thrilled to pay $16.00 for shipping. I know there USED to be an option for reg’lar ol’ USPS airmail for the price of a stamp (practically). Is this shipping option still available for Canada?
Don’t forget there is $10 built into the shipping fee that is our handling. I really need to put this in big red letters somewhere.
I removed the ‘Airmail Letter’ option from the list because I think people will select the cheapest thing on the list without weighing the benefits. Airmail can take a really long time to be delivered. Global Priority, is not FedEx fast, but for $6, IMHO, it’s the way to go.
I’ll add Airmail Letter back, but I don’t really like throwing packages to the wind. I’m the one that has to answer the emails when the packages do get there

Ah-ha! I was actually looking for that $10 fee. didn’t realize it was built into the shipping costs. Now it all makes sense. I will prolly use Global Priority, then, for the excellent reasons you outlined. Just a quick heads up, though: The Airmail Letter option still appears in the Shipping FAQ, which is probably what confused me. Maybe you could break out the handling into a seperate item on the invoice/bill/order, to make it crystal clear to halfwits like me
