Beefcake Relay Control Kit # 10733

Hello Sparkfun Friends,

I have the Beefcake Relay Control Kit # 10733. When I was reviewing the “assembly” instructions, I noticed that my PCS does NOT look like the ones shown in the photos . The placement of the resistors, and transistor are not the same.

Can I post a photo here and have someone review this PCB BEFORE I ‘start’ the assembly and soldering process.

Thank You,

That is an older version of the beefcake relay. You can find the data at

https://www.sparkfun.com/products/retir … 1773666937

NOTE: THAT VERSION OF THE PCB IS NOT SUITABLE OR SAFE FOR USE WITH 120V or 240V. The spacing between PCB traces is too close for safety.

Not sure where you found this, it’s a super old version that was discontinued 10 years ago. There never was a guide to put it together, you just followed the silkscreen to figure out where to put components.

Mike is right, this is OK for low voltages, (24 volts or less) but not safe to use with AC mains voltages.

Thank you for this ‘safety’ information. I will use it to “switch” 12 volt DC for my Low Voltage lights outside my driveway.

I guess you can call me the “King of Procrastinators” . I bought this kit, then retired, moved 3,000 miles, and now I’m just getting my soldering station up and running.

Last time I checked, solder does NOT go bad . (Maybe Flux does.)

I will try to follow the link, but this “still” does NOT look my Beefcake relay control kit # 10733.
