Retired Relay Control Kit COM-09096

I purchased and built 4 of these relay boards back in 2011. I recently started a project that requires 4 relay boards and after doing some research, It appears that this product was retired and potentially dangerous due to some minor design flaws. I was wondering if there were any recalls or refunds offered for these boards and what a good replacement would be for this relay unit. I will be using an arduino to control these with my new project.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Sistom,

There were no recalls or refunds of this PCB that I am aware of. A good replacement, if you want to stick with a similar relay, would be the [SparkFun Beefcake Relay Kit.](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13815)

So the COM-09096 Relay Kits are safe to use for AC voltages?

I would not recommend using the COM-09096 PCB for high-voltage applications. We redesigned the PCB for these kits in the latest release of the Beefcake Relay Kit to safely control large loads at high voltages.

Well it was a good thing I didn’t use them. Can I return the boards for a partial refund towards the Beefcake Relays?

I am afraid we cannot accept returns for retired products. Especially not ones that have been retired for as long as this board/kit.
