I purchased 3 bidirectional logic level converters(PN 12009) to interface a 5V SPI device and a ras pi. I have found that when 5V is connected to HV, all HV channels(HV1 through 4) read 5V on DMM. The same is true for LV channels on all 3 devices(DMM reads 3.3V). Setup up as such on a Ras Pi 3B:
5V pin → HV
3.3V pin → LV
Ground → GND on both sides
DMM- → GND
DMM+ → HV1
DMM between each HV channel and GND reads 5V. DMM between each LV channel and GND reads 3.3V. I have tried limiting current into device using 10 kOhm resistors, which brought current down to ~1mA, but still getting this “short” between HV and channels. Have tried with and without soldered headers to no avail. I’ve ordered the same type of component(10 pieces) from another vendor too and have had the same issue. I am beginning to think I am missing something crucial or all devices I have measured are duds. Please help, thank you.
