Hey guys,

I’m new to these forums. Basically, I’d like to build a small camera that I can mount to my road bike and have it snap pictures at a set interval. I’m wondering if this is possible to do with a PIC or will I need something like a DSP? I just want to have the camera snap a picture and store it in a flash disk, I don’t need it to do any image processing with the device. Would anyone care to offer some guidance?

I’m pretty new to this type of hardware as a hobby. However, I have a strong background in engineering and computer science. Also, I have sufficient experience with programming DSPs and basic circuits. Any suggestions for some sites/book to start learning?

The easiest thing to do is to get a small camera that can take all the pictures you need and store them in the camera, or it’s card. Then, you can build a simple timer circuit that triggers the camera at the interval you want.

Model rocketry enthusiasts do this with pencams.
