BlueSmirf issues, one-way communication?

My BlueSmirf doens’t seem to send my PC’s bluetooth (Lenovo T60) any data. I’m at a total loss why.

It connects but the WinXP status window shows zero data recieved; however it does log keystrokes sent when typed into hyperterminal. It won’t respond/echo back anything for +++, $$$, or At command. I’ve tried both com ports it creates, various baud rates, flow control, and before/after the lights blink fast/slow in red and green. I also have J1 bridged, but also tried it unbridged.

I have software that uses the com port to interface with hardware in leu of a serial connection (Moates.net’s Demon). It can connect, but all functions are disabled so it’s like it isn’t talking to it.

Is this bad hardware or user error? I’ve always been a bit dumb concerning modem-type stuff.

I just wired it to a converter (pl-2303) and tried connecting that way via hyperterminal and TeraTerm. Still nothing.
