BlueSMiRF RX TX

Essentially I’m using the BlueSMiRF to replace a serial cable w/ a DB-9 on one end and a 3/32" three segment plug (stereo audio-like plug) on the other. That’s RX, TX, and ground. Do I need to send RX and TX directly to the microcontroller chip, or can I plug right into the jack as long as I get the wire config correct… I don’t see any converters like RS-323 chips in route to the microcontroller.

The output of the BlueSMiRF is TTL serial, so if that is what the microcontroller is expecting and it is directly connected to the jack, it shouldn’t be a problem. If you are just using a normal serial cable to connect to the PC though, and you can’t see any level converter circuitry, the micro might be expecting proper RS232 levels and could be programmed to deal with it.
