Hi,
I’ve assembled the BlueSMiRF with a RS-232 converter and a battery to use as a wireless console connection to Cisco routers and switchs. All went well with the routers, but I can not connect to switches. Very strange. Any suggestion?
thanks,
fv
What sort of RS232 converter are you using? Measure the high and low voltage levels, perhaps they’re not quite in spec. Do be sure you have the RX and TX lines the right way round (not trying to be condescending). Try connecting to a router with a conventional serial port on a computer, and a 3-wire serial cable (ground, RX, TX) to make sure that it doesn’t need any handshaking lines.
Hi,
Using a Max3232. Works just fine in all tested Cisco routers (7200, 2800, 2600, 1700, 2500), just like using a console cable (also works when connected to a laptop. funny to do a loop using BT and on-board serial). But when connected to Cisco switches (2900, 3500, some 3560) I get no response. Very strange. Tested with some 4506 and 3560G and HPs and it worked. Will continue testing.
