Hello everyone, I am somewhat new to SparkFun only having ordered once before, but I am looking to to take the Cisco CCNA certification, as you may or may not know the Cisco products (switches, routes, VPNs) are all programmed through what they call their ‘Console’ port. The Console port is nothing more than a Serial Cable with a RJ-45 that plugs into the Console port.
Well my laptops do not have serial ports, so I am currently using a USB to Serial adapter to communicate with the Cisco units, but really this is a very inelegant method, both of my laptop have built in Bluetooth, so my question is this; will the [SparkFun WRL-08495 Bluetooth Modem - Roving Networks RS232[/b]
Has anyone done this or something similar ?
Also this seems like something, that someone should be producing, as all the Cisco stuff is programmed and configured this way, and more and more laptops do not have serial connections.
