Hi,
Had RedBoard Qwiic working for some time without any problems. However, a few days ago the windows 10 stopped recognize the board. Saying Unknown USB Device (Device Description request Failed), or putting USB device in the category of Other devices (USB device). I have all drivers installed (SparkFun Pro Micro getting recognized and works well).
Attempt to initiate bootloader by pressing reset twice did not work (nothing changes).
Any suggestions?
When going into bootloader, you need to press the reset button two time quickly, like when you double click a mouse. That will drop you into bootloader for roughly 8 seconds.
This is what I do. I was able to restore SparkFun Pro Micro previously the same way.
OK, that might be a CH340 chip failure then but a marginal USB cable can cause the same thing. Try a different USB cable and see if that helps, if it doesn’t it’s probably the CH340.
If you purchased the RedBoard Qwiic directly off our website, just [fill in the form on this page with your order number and the URL to this forum post and we can replace it for you.
If you purchased from a distributor or Amazon you will need to let them know you have a defective product and arrange with them for an exchange.](Return Policy - SparkFun Electronics)
Sorry for the delay.
I checked it on another computer with Windows 10, and it works. Recognized as CH340 driver.
I tried to forcefully set Arduino USB Serial Light Adapter, FTDI ver 2.12.36.2 and 2.12.28.0. Nothing works. I can see the port, but the board does not accept any communication from Arduino IDE.
@#$#$ Windows 10 ! I had to install “wch.cn - Ports” driver update. All works now.
