Red Board QWIC Not Connecting

Order #: 5931023

Part SKU: DEV-15123

Both of the DEV-15123 boards I got last week do not appear to work. I plugged them into my computer using both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 connections and Device Manager fails to recognize them. The first time I plugged them in I got the USB beep but when I opened the Arduino IDE it did not find a device or COM port. On the first connection Device Manager showed a COM port but since then when I plug the boards in no USB Beep or COM port in Device Manager. When I plug the board into a USB port the green light comes on and the blue light flashes. I tried the boards on 2 other computers with no results.

I downloaded and installed the drivers. I have an old Red Board without the QWIC connector that I am able to hookup with no problem.

Any thoughts?

Hi Jim.

Are you sure you’re using the right driver? The old RedBoards used the FTDI driver but the new boards use a different USB to serial chip and use a CH340 driver.

Check the [guide here for installing the CH340 driver and if that’s not working, try a different USB cable (some are power only) and let us know if you’re still having trouble.](https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/how-to-install-ch340-drivers)

Yes I am using the proper driver.

I also tried several cables.

Tried another cable and it’s working with both devices. Thanks

Glad you have it figured out! Happy hacking.
