Trying to power a synthesizer board using a 1300mAh 14.8V LIPO battery pack through a COM-15208 buck boost board configured in a custom mode for 6V output. As soon as the battery is connected to the 15208 there is a snap and the board is dead, as no output. I am trying to verify the output before connecting the synth so there is no initial load on the Buck Boost board.
…was the battery fully charged? A fully charged 14.8v lipo (4S) is usually 16.8v (slightly above max spec) :-/
It was at 15V.
Is there a different model buck boost that will take the higher voltage that will provide the 6V output that I need?
Use a buck (stepdown) regulator. For non-standard or adjustable output voltages, Pololu has the best selection. Select one with an upper input voltage rating well above the intended operating input voltage.
Not that we sell (our other options output standard voltages); check out jremington’s suggestion
