hello,
I am trying to create a new schematic symbol in CADSTAR of a 16DIP MAX232EPE.
However, i get to the dialog box with “Gate A” in it and then i am stuck,
do you know what “Gate” is supposed to be.
There are silent movies on the zuken site but i can’t tell what’s going on there.
That would be a single gate part. It means the same as a gate in logic devices, where you might have two or more identical symbols in one part. It should be in the documentation.
Try using the symbol wizard.
Create a blank symbol with pin labels for each pin.
Then when making the part, add the label for each pin in the label column.
When you add the part to your schematic it will have the label information on it.
Best thing about that is that you can then use the same symbol for a completely different part
as the symbol itself is non specific.
BTW, what version of CADSTAR are you using?
