Can I replace the TIP3055 transistor by the 2N3055?

Hello!

I am doing a project that will use TIP3055 transistors, after reading a detailed introduction article about this device, here’s the link: [TIP3055 Datasheet

But my local shop is almost out of TIP3055 transistors…

They just have a lot of 2N3055 in stock.

But I wonder if I can replace the TIP3055 by the 2N3055?

Depends on your situation, but the housing is different…

Mouser has a few hundred TIP3055 in stock.

The 2N3055 is a TO-3 package, while the TIP3055 is a TO-247. They are very different.
