Can the SAM7-P64 run uCLinux?

I haven’t got my feet wet with ARM yet (waiting for Olimex to produce a board, my wait is finally over :stuck_out_tongue: ) but I was wondering if the SAM7-P64 can run uCLinux.

I know in the news post Olimex talks of another SAM7 board that can, does this mean the SAM7-P64 can’t?

BTW I don’t really know much about ARM yet, so speak to me like I’m a three year old

Hi,

uClinux need 2MB RAM minimum (4MB RAM if you want to do something useful), so SAM7S64 will not do the job.

we are working on SAM7-EA2 board with 4MB RAM and 2MB Flash + SD/MMC card to boot uclinux image from

Best regards

Sorry for the post both here and at www.at91.com Tsvetan.

I’m just so eager to buy an olimex SAM7 board that runs uCLinux

Don’t suppose you can give us all a hint at an approximate date for release?

Hi,

we work on it now, it will be available in stock 2-3 months

Thanks for the info about when it will be available.

If i can make a suggestion, it would be very nice if it could play mp3s “out of the box”. If there already exists uCLinux software for this, it would be nice.

I know some people want to do “real” stuff like TCP/IP etc but I like noise over packets

I don’t know if this is easy or hard, but if easy would be a nice extra selling point.
