Capacitor value in suspected low pass RC sub-circuit

Hi all,

I’ve got the sub-circuit in the image below which originates from a larger circuit setup we are currently investigating.

I suspect it might be a low pass RC based filter and I’m trying to figure out the capacitor value. The marking on the capacitor are “1042” the underneath this is “F-J”. Usually capacitor code are based on 3 digits but this one has 4. As seen in the diagram it’s connected to a +12V DC power supply.

I’ve had a look at the diode 1N4004 which I understand can be used as a rectifier in a power supply.

Any ideas at all on how I can figure out the capacitor value?

Any help is appreciated.

Is this commercial or military gear ? As drawn the circuit makes little sense to me. It’s more of a high pass filter than a LPF.

I suspect that the capacitor code is 104Z for a 0.1uF +80%/-20% part.

The circuit is a simple RC snubber which is sometimes used with diodes.
