Just in case people are interested I found out that the red (despite the product image) 28 Pin Zif Socket (item #9175 http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9175) fluoresces nicely under a blacklight also.
Sorry about the picture but it is the best my phone can do with only blacklight as a lighting source…
