Configure GP-735 GPS receiver for high altitudes

I am considering using the GP-735 for a high-altitude balloon flight, but a user wrote:

" I specifically purchased this unit because the datasheet says it works to 50,000m. Seems that it might be able to do that, but you have to reprogram the GP-735."

So -how do you program (re-program?) this device to support operations up to 50,000 me?

Unfortunately I don’t have any data that shows how to reprogram these for changing the max altitude. It’s my understanding that they work up to 50,000m by default but I could be wrong.
