db9 connectors

Hi,

I’d looking for a way to use 2 (at a minimum, but 4 would be great) db9 connectors on a protoboard. I can’t find any protoboard that has 2 or more db9 female connectors footprint.

The only solution I see right now is to buy the db9 breakout boards from sparkfun and solder them on the protoboard but since the breakoutboard doesn’t allow to solder on 4 corners, I think the connector might move a little. Unless I use a drill and make more holes. but this is becoming a big hack, and I am wondering if there is a “cleaner” solution for this. Has any one seen a protoboard that has 2 or more db9F footprints? or have any other idea on how I could do this?

Thanks.

I have a pile of those breakouts and I agree they could use mounting holes. You can either glue them down with double sided tape or remove the hold down clips and use screws in the holes instead.

And BTW, they’re DE9 connectors. The 9 pin version of a DB25 is not DB9. DE/DB refer to the shell size.

You could always make your own breakout board…

Yeah, but…

I bought 10 of the SF ones because they’re just $0.95 each. Too cheap to be worth laying out a board then sending it out for fab.

This !!

Yeah! And it’s not an RJ-45 unless it’s wired for a specific telco application.

sorry… not trying to start a war here… just thought it was funny :stuck_out_tongue:
