I was wondering why there are no discrete 9e.g. 3mm, 5mm etc.) LEDs made from OLED/PLED?
I have only seen OLED/PLED display matrices but the large viewing angle and low power consumption of these technologies would be useful for discrete components as well. (especially for control panels)
maybe there is an obvious reason for their non-existance that I am missing?
Good question 8) I can’t think of a good reason why such components still don’t exist…
If you only want a very low power led, try this easy solution:
buy a ultra bright led and drive it @ very low current (in the range of 1mA to 100uA)
you’ll end up with a standard brightness led with ultra low power consumption
blue, red and yellow leds are the best for this use, green is a bit bad but can work, white has to be avoided since @ low currents it produces almost no light.
