It would be nice to see some low cost Oleds, rahter than all the very high priced ones.

I got a quote from them of :
Quotation is as follows:–
1.)Item:C0283QGLF-T
2.)Unit Price for samples : USD32.4
3.)Unit Price for 10kpcs : USD26.5
I think the OLED modules that SF sells right now are so expensive only because of the super-duper hi-level controllers, that allow serial control of the display. That and the fact that they are resellers for 4dsystems that probably have high prices to begin with.
The problem is no one bothers to sell you just the panel in low volumes.
Just get a cheap LCD with 2x the resolution

isn’t that what SFE is all about ?
If the minimum order if is around a few Ks units, it’s probably too much for SF to order.
They do sell the PSP LCD, but they don’t seem to like to stock more then 100-200 of them, and I think for a food reason, it takes months to sell 100 of them.
i would not expect SFE to order 10k of anything.
these LCD have built in controllers. no need to have a driver IC like the PSP screen. SFE could at least inquire to see what the min order is.
OSD Displays ( http://www.osddisplays.com/oled.php ) carries this display (or one very similar), their prices are similar. Unfortunately their minimum order quantity is generally 500, which is probably a little high.
i give up… SFE just look into it.
There’s already a thread about that:

Anyway, if you see the page of the sparkfun site about the 128x128 OLED http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc … cts_id=712 it says “Quantity on hand: 571”, so sparkfun ordered those displays in >500 quantity.
Active matrix OLEDs are much easier to use than the PSP LCD, because they have an embedded framebuffer.
In my opinion those with the graphic controller are even easier to use, but have the following disadvantages:

i dont think $32 is exspensive by any means. Most Oled displays with built in controllers are address / data bus ready. the ont i mentioned even has SPI interface.
When I said “expensive displays with graphic controller” I was talking abouth these: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc … ts_id=8623
The meaning of my last post was that the AMOLED display alone, without the added PCB with the PICASO controller chip will be cheaper and still easy to use.
This thread is getting way off topic. I just was offering a good cheap alternative for some Oled displays with graphic controllers built in.
they also have larger ones.
