Driving SSR with Arduino MKR1010

I received my 40 amp SSR ( Fotek ) a couple of days ago. According to several write ups the Arduino should drive the SSR directly. Well that’s not quite the case.

After connecting the MKR1010 to the SSR ( similar to the one sold by Sparkfun ) I activated the pin to drive the SSR but the 110 VAC light bulb did not light. I used a digital volt meter to test the output of the Arduino to the SSR and it measured .95 volts. When I unhooked the SSR I read the full 3.3 volts. Apparently the Arduino MKR1010 does not have enough driving current for a SSR. So I’ve order a level converter from Sparkfun.

Any comments or better suggestions?

Hi,

Well connecting an SSR with arduino is quite simple. If you are having problem is sending HIGH signal and turning ON SSR then you can connect a transisor as a switch and between Arduino pin and relay. In this way you can send you required volts to the SSR from Transisitor. See the link below.
