Edimax EW-7611ULB - Very Slow - Jetson Nano

I followed this guide: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/ad … jetson/all

My Jetson Nano is now averaging at about 300 kbps on downloading from a github repsitory, but it is sometimes hitting 1mbps only to quickly return to 200kbps or lower. I have turned off the power saver too, but I still cannot get high speeds. Sometimes I am getting no connection at all to the internet too.

I am wondering if someone can help me troubleshoot why the Edimax EW-7611ULB is having such low speeds.

Hmm…the fact that will hit 1Mb/s perhaps points toward something else throttling the speed (router, modem, ISP settings? Also, are you transmitting high-rate bluetooth traffic at the same time?), or it might be a power or wifi signal quality issue. I found a similar post on another forum (same adapter) where the router was the culprit:

My router is set to automatically set the Wifi channel and I have many other wifi’s around me.
I played around with the settings and set the channel manually. If I set a high channel number like 13, I get only very low speeds. If I set Channel 1, I get instantly 77Mbit of 150 possible Mbits.
The funny thing is, that most of the Wifi’s around me use channel 1. I always thaought it would be better to use a channel which is not used by other wifi’s.
My router at somepoint decided to switch channels, thats why the problem appeared out of nowhere.
Problem solved.

I would first try fiddling around with the router’s settings/channels. If that doesn’t bear any fruit: What type of power supply are you using?

I am using the nvidia recommended power supply. Bluetooth is currently disabled via the gui. Signal quality is 3/4 bars.

I’ve used the same Edimax WiFi dongle on a PC, they just are not all that fast there either.

I think part of it is it’s a inexpensive adapter and the other part is that you’re doing WiFi over a USB port which has some overhead (slowness) as well.

They work, but they don’t work really well.
