Error in TAL220 and TAL220B

I was reading trough the data sheet for these and they said that the is +0.03 of %FS and +0.05 of %FS for the 10 kg and 5 kg load cells respectively. Does this mean that when using the 5 kg load cell, I am accurate within 2.5 g (5,000 g * (0.05%))? If not, what is the error in the scale and the smallest increment that I can distinguish between in grams? Thank you!

Hi Pankeywytch-GCP,

That is correct. The error listed in those datasheets is a percentage of the Full Scale (5kg or 10kg). When you choose a load cell, one of the most important things to consider is what loads you are going to be using on it and to match the load cell to be as close as possible to the full scale of weight you intend to use. For example, if the object(s) you are trying to weigh is going to be 0-5kg, the 5kg load cell will be much more accurate than a 10kg cell since you are using the full scale of the cell and not half of it.

I hope this clears up that error spec in the datasheet and helps you choose the right load cell for your project.
