SEN-14728 accuracy and sensitivity

Hi all,

I’m planning to use SEN-14728 mini load cell (500g) for my new project.

The load cell has to measure a total weight of 200g with an accuracy of +/- 0.5g.

Can SEN-14729 measure such a small weight at this accuracy?

Also, do SEN-14728 has a sensitivity to detect variation of 0.5g measurement?

Thanks
Sarath

The datasheet says Capacity:100~1500g. So, 200g should not be a problem.

Not any info regarding the accuracy though.

It’d be pretty close by my calculations… The datasheet lists the accuracy specs as percentage of full-scale load, or %FS…in this case:

  • Combined error: 0.05%FS of 500g = 0.25g
  • Zero balance: ±0.1%FS of 500g = 0.5g
  • Non-linearity: ±0.05%FS of 500g = 0.25g
  • Hysteresis: ±0.05%FS of 500g = 0.25g
  • Repeatability: ±0.05%FS of 500g = 0.25g
  • Creep: ±0.05%FS/3min of 500g = 0.25g

To get a better estimate of the total error rate across the combined factors, we’d want to run a a root mean squared calc

RSS calculation:
RSS = √((0.25)² + (0.5)² + (0.25)² + (0.25)² + (0.25)² + (0.25)²) =
√(0.0625 + 0.25 + 0.0625 + 0.0625 + 0.0625 + 0.0625) = √0.5625 ≈ 0.75g

Total expected combined RSS error for a 200g sample on a 500g load cell is approximately ±0.75g, without temperature effects

You might be able to get better performance with good sampling and calibrations, but there’s a rough estimate to get an idea
