EZRadio and EZRadioPRO

Does anyone here have any experience with the EZRadio range of chips from Silicon Labs.

https://www.silabs.com/products/wireles … fault.aspx

I was wondering if this would make a cheaper alternative to Nordic devices.

Does anyone know where I could get some cheap modules to test? Would this be something that Sparkfun might sell in the near future?

Dunno if I’m too late; sorry if I am, but Digikey currently has these for real cheap. $2-5. I would also like to know if anyone has any experience with these, and I also would like to see Sparkfun stock them.

I can’t find anything about hobbyists using these for projects, and I don’t know why. Their feature set is amazing and they have outstanding output power (100mW) for as cheap as they are!

I’ll let everyone know if I find anything more on these… And hi, BTW. I’m new here. :stuck_out_tongue: I’ve been following Sparkfun’s blog for a while. You guys do some great projects with the (very interesting) products you stock. I’ve never seen any place like this. ^-^

Hello,

I bought RFM12B RF modules from Hope RF website.

This module is based on the IA4420/Si4420 from Integration/Silicon Labs.

With these modules, I developped wireless sensor for my house.

If you need examples of projets, you can look the following links :

If you need I have others links but I think that you can find enough examples with these both links.

At this time, I try to develop my own RF module based on Si4432 component. If anyone have any experience …

Do they have a US distributor? Otherwise, are there large shipping costs for small quantities?

I bought 4 of the power amplified units (RFM12BP 500mW!) for about $50 shipped a while back. They were quite good to deal with over email. Took about a week shipping, but I expected that from China. I still need to make a board for them, they are a SMD mounted board. I did make a footprint that matches up well when printed on paper, but I haven’t actually soldered one yet. Note that the amplified units may not be legal in all countries. I’m planning on using the 433Mhz units in the Amateur band with a license. I think, but I can’t remember for sure, that the 900Mhz units will work under Part 15 rules in the US, but check for yourself before spending money on them. Might require frequency hopping to be legal.

I seem to remember buying some of the normal ones from a US distributor, but I don’t remember the source right now.

Hello,

In fact, I didn’t buy my RFM12B module on the Hope RF website.

I bought them from a german website : http://lynx-dev.com/

I don’t know if they accept to ship outside EU.

Bye

HopeRF have launched the new module RFM22 which is based on the Si4432. I buy direct from them (I am UK based) and use paypal.

There is no min order qty and the service is excellent.

Current pricing (16th June 2009) is: $5.25

I didn’t know that HopeRF accept orders with small quantity.

I wait these new module RFM22 for a long time.

I will order them directly from HopeRF.

Thanks for this news

The contact person is Elsa missyzhang@hotmail.com in MSN

You can buy single units but they use DHL for shipping which is $23 to the UK so buying 1 or 100 modules will cost the same. What country are you in? maybe we could share the cost for shipping on an order!

I received another contact when I tried to pass a first order in May.

unfortunately, the new module RFM22 was not avaiable at this moment.

I live in France. If the shipping cost is only $23, I not sure that it’s necessary to pass a order together.

I request a quote from HopeRF for 10 modules.

In case of problems, I will use your contact.

bluemore,

do you know what the difference is w/ this unit?.

Any advantages?.

I just ordered 20 modules of the RFM22. I used paypal, and the DHL shipping to the states was $24.00. They will sell one module if you want it, but the shipping is expensive for this amount.

It will be interesting to see how the 4432 with 50mW of RF output stacks up against the Chipcon 1101 @ 10mW…
