Facet L-Band

If I were to have 2 GPS-17370 RTK Surveying Kits one set as base and the other a rover. This would, in theory, provide 14-30mm accuracy in the field, given the base has a clear view of the sky and the rover is within 300M?

Yes that. However, there is a difference:

  • RTK L-Band provides absolute accuracy of 1 to 6cm without the need to setup an accuracy base.

  • RTK Rover / Base setup provides relative accuracy of 14mm. Said differently, if your base is incorrectly set to 1 m to the left, all rover readings will be 1.010m to 0.990m to the left. We recommend setting up a permanent base that has PPP accuracy (https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … nent_base/) so that all your rover readings are absolutely accurate.

My L-band does not get an RTK FLoat or Fix again, I’m back to DGPS and seeing 3-7 meter differences in altitude and 2-3 meter longitude from points I’ve previously marked. I’m trying to survey my property and layout areas for ponds, gardens, buildings, etc… I’m trying to model these things in 3D and use my actual topography without dishing $100k to a surveyor. If I set up NTrip corrections will that work with the Point Perfect keys on, or do I need to disable the keys? Do I have a year from the first time I actually got keys or is it from the date my unit was shipped?

How can I get better repeatable results with this unit? I don’t mind seeing an inch or few variance but I cant even rely on the connection to get better than DGPS… :frowning:

RTK Float should be entered in less than 60 seconds. Depending on conditions, it may take 60 to 120s to get RTK Fix.

I recommend sending it back for inspection: https://www.sparkfun.com/returns. I’d like to have a look at it and make sure there isn’t an underlying problem.
