Facets used as Base/Rover keeps dropping connection

When I use two facets in base/rover mode via ESP I will lose the rtk fix on the rover after taking 2-3 shots. The rover goes into autonomous mode.

This occurs when the B and R are within 50 feet with no obstructions.

Same thing happens when using lora radios.

One facet is running v4.1 and the other v3.6

Keep trying to update the v3.6 unit to v4.1 ( both through wifi and terraterm ) - messages shows update successful but when the unit is rebooted it reverts to v3.6.

Could using two units with different firmware cause the signal loss?

Using fieldgenius 11 for data collection. Both units work fine with fieldgenius for NTRIP

Welcome to the community @Lee_Kiser,

For updating the FW, I find the RTK Uploader tool the easiest method.

You can download the RTK_Surveyor_Firmware_v4_2.bin file here

Check your RTCM messages and rates on your Base Station. You will have a better experience if you only send the required messages for your application. Treat the air-time as a limited asset

A good starting point for RTCM:
1005(10sec), 1006(10sec), 1074(1sec), 1084(1sec), 1094(1sec), and 1230(10sec)
[Note:] I can’t promise that the ESP radio (or LoRa) can handle this traffic, it’s just a suggestion as a starting point.

Also, are you confident in your Base Station Coordinates ?

Please let us know your results.

Thanks for the reply.

Tried multiple configurations - rtk fix still drops after 2-3 shots with field genius.

I think its a field genius issue.

Field genius wants to communicate directly to base and make corrections, while the base/rover facets talk to each other and make the corrections.

The only way for field genius to communicate with base is through bluetooth, which limits range to ~ 200 ft.

Will try with SW maps ( if I can figure out how to use it…)
