Fried parallel port / AVR-PG2B?

Hi,

I was using the AVR-PG2B quite successful for some time with one of the AVR development boards with ICSP.

Now I setup my own board also with ICSP, but I didn’t get a connection the first try. After some trying I plugged in my previous development board just to see and: nothing worked. I couldn’t get a connection there either. So it looks like something got fried.

I doublechecked my newly designed board a thousand times, the ICSP setup is correct. Also I manually checked the voltages on the ICSP header, eveythings fine: Vcc is +5V compared to the GND pins.

Is it possible that I fried either my parallel port or the AVR-PG2B that easily? NB: It’s a laptop.

best,

Jan.

Ok, after a couple of coffees I remember the original motivation for posting:

How can I find out what’s actually at fault, the AVR-PG2B, my parallel port or something else?

Is there a simple way of testing the proper functioning of the parallel port?

thanks,

Jan.
