Hey All,
So a few months ago I was working on a little project to get a program called “StepMania” (A Clone of the popular Arcade Dance Game) Running on a Pi 4, and (of COURSE against the warranty / common advice) over clocked it and it bit the dust.
My assumption is that aside from a fresh disk install, if the pi did not then boot I have now created a nice paperweight for myself - is there anything I’m missing?
Thanks!
It’s most likely toast.
Might make a neat Christmas tree ornament though.
I still get output from the HDMI without an SD card (The bootloader right?)
But even after formmating the card I get nothing again; I was under the impression that a fresh disk image ought to equal a fresh pi right?
A fresh disk image isn’t going to correct damaged hardware, I think you’re going to need to replace your Pi. Make sure you use a good heatsink on the new one, that might help prevent the same damage but it’s not guaranteed too.
Ok thanks for the guidance - hat kinda answers my primary question: if there was any real settings / memory on the pi that didn’t just live on the disk, i.e. a fresh disk OUGHT to equal a completely fresh pi (assuming the hardware was good)
Next Question: Do you all sell that clear resin casting stuff so i can immortalize my icarus moment (jokes)
All the software and settings are on the SD card and not stored on the Pi itself. You should be able to pull the card from one Pi and have it work in another as long as the new Pi is the same model.
