GE862 SIM card

Stupid question probably, but just to be certain…

The GE862 has a SIM card holder built in, so having an external SIM socket is unnecessary, correct?

And just out of curiosity, what kind of card retention does the holder use? Push-lock/push-eject? Friction lock?

Yes, the GM862 has a SIM card holder built-in, push-lock/push-eject. The Eagle footprint indicates the location of the slot IIRC.

I’ve spun several boards around this part and it works well. One thing to watch out for is any parts/vias/traces you might have on your board under the antenna connectors. If the antenna cables can rotate, the connectors may hit the board and cause a short.

Good luck!

Sorry for posting a question in here:

is GM862 sold by Sparkfun (could not see it) ? If not, where can it be bought (in Europe possibly) ? At what price?

Yes, SFE has both the [GM862-GPS and [GM862-QUAD modules in stock right now.](http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=757)](http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=7917)
