Generic crimp tool for JST PH connectors

I just discovered the official tool for these popular connectors (also used in many sparkfun products) costs multiple hundred dollars, rediculous. Maybe some cheaper generic tool in the shop would sell.

A lot of generic crimp tools will work decently. The name brand ones are always a ripoff.

Not that I have several Molex and Amphenol branded tools around :frowning:

Those JST terminals are very small, I don’t think that there is an alternative to the official tool. Your local distributor will probably make up cables to order.

I picked up one of these in Tokyo a while back and it works fairly well, though I wouldn’t make more than a few cables myself since it’s so tedious: http://www.engineer.jp/en/products/pa09e.html

Not sure how easy they would be to find in the US, though.
