GeoChron Mode 1 makes lots of files.

Just got my GeoChron today. Wow, quick delivery.

I let it auto configure a new 2G sandisk card and then modified the config file it to use mode 1 as below:

Mode = 1

Log What = RMC;GGA;GSA

Time Between Logs = 00:01:00

Holdoff = 5

WAAS = 1

I put it in the car on the way to work this morning just to see how it would do. To my surprise, after work it was flashing blue and red. When I got home and looked at the files it had 256 Log files mostly 1 minute apart, but there was a single event around log 30 where I got:

1 log file with 0 records, followed by

1 file with 30 records, and

1 file with 2 records.

By records I mean a group of the three strings is one record.

So, this isn’t what I expected. I thought I would get 1 file with all the records spaced by approximately 1 minute plus sync time and plus 5 seconds.

Are my expectations correct? If so, is there a fix?

Also, I noticed that the text files are a little odd with their use of line ends. This may be the same issue as another post I saw. The RMC and GGA sentences are terminated in 0x0d, 0x0a, but then the GSA sentence is terminated in just 0x0d.

Finally, is there some source code I could stare at? I might be able to help.

Cheers,

John
