Gerber to Excellon?

I am admittedly ignorant to the question I’m about to ask but am trying to help a buddy out.

He has submitted gerber files to a PCB maker but that company says they need the files in Excellon format. I’ve done much googling and installed gerbView to try but it can’t export into an excellon file. Do you know of any utilities that will do this conversion for us?

They are completely different! Gerber files describe the tracks etc. and Excellon files describe the drill positions and sizes for pad and via holes. PCB manufacturers require both types of file.
