GNSS/Iridium antenna for underwater device

Hi!

I am currently doing a project where i need to fit one or two antennas onto a device that will be submerged 200m (650ft) into the ocean. When it resurfaces it needs to send its position along with some data.

Therefore, I am looking for a GNSS-antenna and a Iridium-antenna (or an antenna that combines the two) that can withstand the pressure at the required depth.

Do you have any recommendations or prevoius experiences that you can share?

Thanks a lot!

Hi m7bacooi,

I’m afraid we may not have a GNSS/Iridium antenna that would work for this application. You can view all of the GPS antennas and GPS products we carry in the [GPS Category and datasheets for the antennas (when available) can be viewed from the “Documents” tab on their respective product pages.

All that said, I do not think any of our antennas will be able to withstand being submerged at that depth but you might be able to design an enclosure that would protect the antenna while still allowing it to get a satellite view and lock.

If you have any follow-up questions about a specific antenna or GPS product, let us know and we would be happy to help as much as we can.](https://www.sparkfun.com/categories/4)
