GPS Coax cable length (active antenna)

Hi -

Recently purchased:

SparkFun GPS Breakout - NEO-M9N, SMA (Qwiic) GPS-17285

And: GPS Embedded Antenna SMA GPS-00177

I’d like to put a coax between them and was thinking of this:

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0979ZN6ZX

50 ft. Some time ago, I looked up various sites wrt to gain, cable loss, etc and it seems okay, but any opinions before I order would be welcome.

(I’ll be using this for integration before going mobile with a much shorter coax connecting cable).

Thanks,

Bull

I can’t understand if the SparkFun GPS Breakout - NEO-M9N, SMA (Qwiic) has an SMA male connector or female. This is something very important to know before you order the cable.

That’s not the issue.

The issue is whether 50’ of cable is too long.

IAC, per tech-support R.T. @ Sparkfun, should be no issue as long as the cable is of good quality.

Ordered a few minutes ago.

Thanks.

(The GPS receiver board SMA is female, ant is male, cable is male/female).

Turns out the cable I ordered (link above) is of very good build quality and the receiver is happy with it.

Getting CnO of

46 dB for sats at 77° elevation.

17…24 dB for sats at 24° elevation.
