GS407 (GPS-11466) Serial garbage readings

Hi there,

I can’t get a legible reading from this unit.

I connect to it using putty confiured as were stated:

9600

8 bits

1 bit stop

no parity

no flow control

then I have this output:

                               §§§§§§«åë·q_qY}§}§ë·q_qYS§ §§§
§§§«åë·q_qY}§}§§§§§§£§S§c«åë £
                                                    £ §§§§§§«åë·q_qY}§}§[}m姫[}må_qY}§}§[}må§S§§§§§§§§§§c«såë·q_SWq§§§§§§§§§c«åë·q_qq§§§§§§«ë·q_qY}§}§

                                                    §§§£§§«åë·q_qY
}§}§ åë·q_SWq§§§§§§§§§c«åë·q_qq}§£§§§§§§§

£§S§§§§§§§§§§c«

Then I tried using every single speed from 2400 to 115200 and all of it outputs garbage.

I used u-blox center but It doesnt recognize the message. :frowning:

I am interfacing the tx/rx with a Logic Level Converter https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8745.

Someone can point what am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your time

The issue was an inappropiate Logic level converter.

It works with some serial level converter https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9873
