I´m having some problems in conecting the logomatic with a GPS HAICOM 204-III. Instead of a normal NMEA sentence in the logfile, I get this stranges characters:
I’m using non-triggered Auto UART mode (Mode 0) at Baud = 3, which should be 4800, 8-N-1.
I’ve tried two separate sources for my serial in… a GPS and a laptop. Both are communicating fine (with each other) at 4800 8-N-1.
The serial connections are wired correctly, TX/RX correct way around, GND connected up.
The logomatic though just produces files full of junk, highly similar to those you have shown.
MODE = 0
ASCII = N
Baud = 3
Frequency = 100
Trigger Character = $
Text Frame = 200
AD1.5 = N
AD1.4 = N
AD1.3 = N
AD0.3 = N
AD0.2 = N
AD0.1 = N
AD1.2 = N
AD0.4 = N
AD1.7 = N
AD1.6 = N
Safty On = Y
Gives a file full of junk.
I can log the GPS quite successfully using my PC. Sending data to the logomatic from the PC at 8-n-1 4800 gives the same result as with the GPS, garbage.
Any ideas. I am tearing my hair out at this… no idea what the problem is and no clue how to diagnose it.
I know this was an old thread, but I thought it would be useful to post a reply/solution. The Logomatic is TTL. Many GPS units are RS232, so you will need a line converter (eg. MAX232). I just got my Logomatic and it recorded garbage when I connected it to my Garmin GPS. Installed a MAX232 and it works fine now.
