Can I use the GS407 with the RS232 Shifter SMD PRT-00449 and a 3.3vdc power source to connect the GS407 directly to a 9pin serial port to read the GPS data directly into a terminal program? Or is something more needed? Sorry if this is a simple question, new to this and learning.
Hello.
As far as I can tell the 2 parts are compatible. The GS407 is TTL compatible and can run off of 3.3v - 5.5v. All you would do is hook the GPS unit up to TX, RX, VCC and GND on the RS232 shifter then the shifter into your computer and you should be good to go. Open up a serial program at the proper baud rate and send commands to the GPS unit.
Hope this helps.
