Guidance Needed: Bluetooth Capability for MyoWare 2.0 with SparkFun RedBoard

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a project using MyoWare 2.0 to create a wireless EMG system. I want to connect it to my phone via Bluetooth. My goal is for the entire system to be battery-powered.

Yesterday, I ordered the SparkFun RedBoard Plus, but I realized it does not feature Bluetooth functionality like the SparkFun RedBoard Artemis, which I saw being used in various guides.

Here are the products I’m using:

MyoWare 2.0 Muscle Sensor Development Kit

Link: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/21269

5-digit part number: KIT-21269

Includes:

MyoWare 2.0

SparkFun RedBoard Plus

etc.

I’m wondering:

  • Should I switch to the Artemis board for built-in Bluetooth capability?

  • Is it feasible to keep the RedBoard Plus and add a Bluetooth module? If so, which module would you recommend for seamless integration with MyoWare 2.0 and my phone?

Any advice on the best approach to achieve my project goals would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,

Nemi

Adding an HM-10 for BLE support will be more cost effective than switching to Artemis.
