I am considering using this modem to transmit NMEA data from a GPS receiver on board an RC aircraft to a ground station. The range seems sufficient but would like to hear from anyone who has used this unit and how well the units perform.
I would hope to acheive a half-mile range at 4800b with little or no data loss. Does this sound like it presents any problems?
Thanks in advance for any feedback I receive.

OK - I’ll trust that this module works as described. My next concern is configuring the module and operation while feeding a 4800 baud data stream.
Configuration - how difficult it this module to configure for point to point operation? It would appear to be as simple as jumper settings, but there are a couple of differences between what the data sheet posted on Spark Fun says and what the manufacturer’s data sheet says on configuraiton.
Data rate - I’m looking for the ability to stream serial NMEA GPS data wirelessly to a remote PC running mapping software. The GPS will output at 4800 baud where the modems are factory set to 9600 baud and not user configurable. Will this cause any problems?
Thanks for putting up with the noob questions.
