Help finding the 'ground plane' layer in Eagle.

While looking into making a modification of my xbee shields, (removing the D1 diodes and inserting a voltage divider) I was looking for the closest ground connection to where the mod would be placed.

I have, what I believe is, the previous version of the ‘xbee shield’.

I can’t spot the ground plane in Eagle that exists on the physical board.

It’s either showing as white against a white background, or it’s just not there.

If someone can point out how I can view the ground plane, I’d appreciate it.

Thanks,

Dave

It’s there!

You’ll need to enable the layers you need as they are all off, then you will notice a red/blue dotted line around the perimeter of the board.

Type “rat”, hit enter and bingo. There’s your ground plane.

Thanks Monkey!

That did it! I knew it was there just didn’t know how to view it. Now I’m going to figure out how to go back to outline mode. The polygons get distracting.

Thanks again!

Dave

Simply move the corner of the dashed-line polygon a bit. It will magically disappear!..

Yes it has gone since using ratsnest on the design but remember it will usually encompass the board so clicking near the edge of a design will usually select the pour line polygon in question.

You may need to do it twice for both top and bottom layer pours.
