how to connect a battery to a hair flat iron

Hello all.

I want to convert my plugin hair flat iron to a battery powered one. The lable reads 120v 60Hz 35w. The power cord does not have a transformer on the plug. I took the unit apart. Can I just connect a battery pack to the leads? And what capacity battery will I need to keep it running for an hour?

Are your intentions for how this is used honorable?

35 watts at 120 volts equates to 0.3 amperes current drain, so the total battery capacity required is 0.3 ampere-hours.

80 AA batteries (even AAA!) in series would easily solve the problem.
