How to delete components from an eagle library (.lbr) file

I am a novice user of EagleCad’s free version and have successfully created several projects and have designed several components for my personal component library. I am using the latest version of Eagle which is running on my Windows XP system.

I have several funky components in my library and would like to delete them, symbols, packages and devices. I have not been able to discover the method(s) to do this. I have read the eagle manual and tutorial without much luck (have I missed something?) and have downloaded several other tutorials, etc from the Web and didn’t have much luck there either.

I’m sure that the process for removing items from a parts library is simple but I’m just not seeing it.

Any enlightenment will be appreciated.

This is done in the library editor. Neither the symbol, package or device can be in use if you want to delete it.

So if you start by clicking on the device editor, find the device you wish to delete and open it. Next click “Library > Remove…”, type in the name of the device (in the library window title bar) and accept.

Repeat for both package and symbol if desired!

Yeah, I had to delete a few things from a library yesterday when I was cleaning up my EAGLE stuff. They really need to implement a better way to delete library elements, because typing in the names of each little part takes forever and it’s easy to miss things.
