I’m a newbie. I have several 80 volt Kobalt batteries. Seems like I sould be able to use them to charge my phone or laptop while boondocking, or possibly to jumpstart a 12 volt vehicle. What do you think?
With an appropriate step down voltage regulator, you could charge a phone or laptop battery.
Forget the jump start, too much current required.
what would be an appropriate step down and how do I connect it and connect the phone. How much current is required to jump start a car. I have a small battery for that purpose.
You'd need a DC to DC converter that can take 80 to 90 volts and turn it into 5 volts. Unfortunately SparkFun doesn't carry anything that would work for that.what would be an appropriate step down (be)
Usually *hundreds* of amps. Way more than you will be able to get out of a DC to DC converter unless you're prepared to spend thousands of dollars on one.How much current is required to jump start a car
To be honest, 80 volt batteries are really not a good solution for what you’re looking to do. Something [like one of these is what you really want.](https://www.amazon.com/TACKLIFE-Car-Jump-Starter-Certified/dp/B075K42Z1M/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_263_lp_t_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=2V02E8G4HQTNVWZCCFMH)
