I had to repackage my rtk facet into a waterproof container for an r and d project to use rtk for kitesurfing and snowboarding jump heights. Don’t worry everything was wrapped in kapton tape and double side tape to hold everything in place.
The data collection in vietnam was great and i learned a lot. BUT.
When i got home to oz i re-installed the boards back into the sparkfun case and there is no display. I suspect the display board or connectors based on the forum. I have disconnected the battery and when i press the inside power switch the orange starus led flashes dim then bright then off.
I am coming to the usa next week for 5 weeks. Is there a way i can return the facet and pay for whatever boards i need plus repair costs?
I am about to go through a few of the trouble shooting approaches on the forum. I just want to use the facet as a base station going forward as i just purchased the rtk postcard which has a better form factor for my application.
This post is to confirm i am following the correct diagnosis process and if i need an rma what the process and cost range could be?
Btw i get close to 300mm vertical precision with our local ANZ SouthPAN service. Its a great product.
Just incase you didn’t already know this - SparkFun sells development boards also. Take a look at the PostCard if you need to measure the jump heights again in the future. That might be easier than disassembling and reassembling your Facet.
I just bought a full RTK postcard set up. Its form factor is amazing. The only issue is the as shipped version doesn’t seem to support SouthPan SBAS satélite corrections yet. I figure its just a matter of time. Sbas is perfect for many sporting applications.
Ok got off my butt over the weekend and ran a few tests, using the flowchart as my guide.
Firstly batt voltage is fine
Secondly when i press either the membrane switch or the internal switch the orange status led on the main board flashes once dim them once bright then off.
I also tried moving the ribbon cables around but no change in behavior.
It seems like the unit may be working properly but with no display as i was able to connect it to swmaps via bluetooth and it all seemed to be working fine. I did notice it rebooted when i moved it but that may be unrelated
Yes thats the one, 12 line zif. Does my diagnosis point to screen failure or am on on the wrong track (sic). How do i order that screen as when i last checked it was on backorder? I don’t need a new board juts a working screen for my facet.
Without having it in-hand it hard to tell which is the cause, but the replacement is sold as a set…once one or the other fails we strongly recommend replacing both
