IMU Options? What about a 6DOF-V3 IMU without the bluetooth?

Hi,

I’m interested in building a UAV and need an IMU. Is there any chance of getting a cutback version of the 6DOF-V3 board without the bluetooth (the range is too limited).

Alternatively, what about extending the 5DOF board , adding an A/D and a 2/3 axis magnetometer, and making the data available over an SPI or I2C bus.

I also noticed Analog Devices announced the ADIS16350 Tri-axis inertial sensor chip with SPI bus support (AD suggest <$250?) - any chance you will put that on a breakout board - it already has an SPI bus.

The other useful addition to the IMU boards would be to add a pressure sensor (altimiter).

Cheers, Michael.

Where'd you get that price? Last I heard, it was going to cost twice that.

Hi,

That was a comment from an Oz mate who had talked to a rep a while ago.

I justed checked the AD website page at http://www.analog.com/en/prod/0%2C2877% … %2C00.html - it gives a price of $275 in 1000+ quantities, and hopefully Sparkfun can get a similar discount for smaller quantities.

Cheers, Michael.

the 16350 is already a module, it’s not a chip, so you don’t need a breakout board

Yeah, but unfortunately, all of AD’s breakout board connectors are in Metric.

why is that a problem?

The bluetooth only is a deal killer for me. Altimeter, gps connection, and magnetometer would be nice.
