Internal car thermometers, are they safe due to extreme heat

Hi, I’m looking to buy an internal car thermometer but I’m worried about safety due to heat exposure, as internal car temperatures can reach 172*.

I’ve found digital LCD thermometers using these batteries – would they be in danger of exploding if left in a hot car for extended periods?

LR44 battery, CR2032 battery, AG10 battery

Would using a thermometer that plugs into the cars DC 12V charger be safer?

thanks M

They’ll be fine. For example garage door openers, car remotes, the countless kid’s toys are left in cars all the time. Now there is difference between operating range and safety where thermal runaway can cause failure near 50°C (302°F). Different types of batteries act differently so google their limitations.

“50°C (302°F)”

50 C = 122 F
